Kapalabhati Pranayam – skull shining breath – Benefits

Introduction:

Kapalabhati Pranayam means illuminating the organs of the skull or head by forceful breath outs and natural breath ins. Kapal means skull or head and bhati means shining or illuminating, where as Pranayam means breathing technique.

Brain, small brain and other are influenced in good manner when you are in the process of Kapalabhati Pranyama.

It involves short and strong forceful exhalations and inhalations happens automatically.

The main aim of this breathing exercise is to clean cranial sinuses and cure anemia.

Procedure:

Initially try to sit erectly such that your spine has to be straight, head in still position and shoulders nice and firm.

Now close your eyes, try to be in gyana mudra or any mudra, breath out forcefully with natural breath ins. You need to contract the abdomen muscles with each exhalation. Try to concentrate on your breathing’s and do it slowly in fact according to your individual strength and ability. Try to increase the force strongly once you are consistent in your practice.

Glimpse of kapalabhati

Doing forcibly doesn’t mean that the speed of your breath outs should be fast, the speed of your breath outs should be normal with great intense.

Try to do this process for at least 5 mins in a day and repeat the breathing cycles for at least 5 to 10 times.

Slowly open your eyes and relax for 2 or 3 mins. And before you start any pranayama, go for bhastrika pranayama initially.

Precautions :

High B.P Patients and people with heart problems shouldn’t be doing this breathing exercise.
