Bowling Statistics in Cricket

BOWLING AVERAGE

Bowling Average = No of runs given / No of wickets.

Example

Bowling Average is 28.92

=>For every 28.92 runs the bowler takes a wicket.

Example

Lets say if a bowler has taken 708 wickets with an avg of 22.0

Bowling Average = No of runs given / No of wickets.

=>22 = No of runs given / 708

=>No of runs given = 708 * 22 = 15,576 runs

Note

The lesser the Average the good the bowler is.

BOWLING STRIKE RATE

Bowling Strike Rate = No of balls bowled / No of wickets.

Example

Bowling strike rate is 40.2

=>For every 40.2 balls the bowler takes a wicket.

Lets say if a bowler has taken 500 wickets with an strike rate of 40.2

=>Bowling strike rate = No of balls bowled / No of wickets.

40.2 = No of balls bowled / 500

No of balls bowled = 500 * 40.2 = 20,100 balls

Note

The lesser the strike rate the good the bowler is.

BOWLING ECONOMY

Bowling Economy = Total no of runs conceded / Total no of overs bowled.

Example

Bowling Economy is 3.0

=>For every over or for every 6 balls, the bowler concedes 3 runs.

Lets say if a bowler has bowled 600 overs with economy of 3.0

=>Bowling Economy = Total no of runs conceded / Total no of overs bowled.

=>3 = Total no of runs conceded / 600.

No of runs conceded = 600 * 3 = 1800 runs.

=>1800 runs is conceded by a bowler in 600 overs or 3600 balls bowled by him.

Note

The lesser the economy, the good the bowler is.
